'Hello tomorrow' – the future of the paper, office supplies and stationery sector begins at Paperworld 2017

'The visionary office and the stationery trends' – exhibitors are configured in a new hall layout at the world’s largest paper, office supplies and stationery marketplace

From 28 to 31 January 2017, in eight halls of the Paperworld fair in Frankfurt am Main, more than 1,500 world-leading manufacturers and interesting start-up companies will be showcasing what the future has in store for the modern office and for paper and stationery products for private use. All of them use Paperworld as the most significant sector trade fair for introducing their new products and innovations. "For some time now, the paper, office supplies and stationery sector has also been one to feel the effects of global economic dynamics and changes in the workplace. At Paperworld we will see that companies are succeeding brilliantly in responding to these changes with new products and solutions", says Michael Reichhold, Director of Paperworld. The trade fair has been very successful for years in bringing together under one roof the two main product areas, commercial office supplies, and paper, stationery and school supplies for the private market, thereby showcasing the breadth and depth of the largest possible range of paper, office supplies and stationery products. For the up and coming event in January 2017, the fair’s organisers will consolidate this approach with a slightly adapted hall layout.

The visionary office: a whole world of commercial office supplies
The entire product segments that make tomorrow’s office into a visionary office will be showcased: from office appliances, furniture and equipment, to organisational resources and presentation aids, and office stationery and writing and drawing tools, through to computer and printer accessories, as well as recycled printer supplies. In Halls 3.0, 3.1 (Paperworld Plaza), 4.0 and 6.0, over a gross exhibition area of 45,000 square metres, visitors will find a selection of products for the 'visionary office' that is unparalleled in the world. "Paperworld is a must for those who want to know what makes working in the office more efficient, healthier and more mobile. It is only here that retailers and commercial buyers from large offices and administrative departments can experience live and in colour such a variety and concentration of technical innovations that cannot be matched anywhere else in the world."

This is also evidenced by the large number of German and international wholesalers and global companies, who use Paperworld every year as an ordering and sourcing platform. Durable’s Director, Horst-Werner Maier-Hunke, puts it like this: "Paperworld in Frankfurt continues to be one of the most important fairs for the sector. It is here that we have the opportunity to meet our customers and trading partners, and bring them up to date, in a very good market environment. Durable is a byword for innovative products and this means that we will be present in Frankfurt again in 2017 with many innovations in our product range."

The exhibitors’ displays in the office sector will be complemented in January 2017 by a high-quality special show about the 'workplace of the future', with expert lectures and additional presentations on innovative products to encourage flexibility, mobility and workflow in the workplace. The Sustainable Office Day remains a day that is exclusively geared towards the sustainable office, and the high-quality programmes for trade visitors, such as Paperworld Procurement with the Office Gold Club exhibition, Paperworld Insider, and the Personal Assistants Day, continue to be an integral part of the four-day fair. A meeting place for retailers and a business matchmaking service should provide additional help with establishing links between supply and demand.

The stationery trends: stationery and high-quality accessories and gift articles will present a modern lifestyle
German and international exhibitors, showcasing paper and stationery products for private use, will present their new ideas, designs and lifestyle product ranges for the coming season at Paperworld, the world’s largest stationery marketplace. In January 2017, trade visitors will find the latest carefully selected on-trend stationery products and gift articles – that is, products related to giving, gift wrapping and celebrating, as well as high-quality writing implements, bags and accessories, in Halls 5.1 and 6.1. This is where the greetings cards emporium will be further developed, and strengthened at the same time with the wrapping paper, ribbons and bows and packaging materials product segments. As Uwe Ohnemüller, Sales Manager for Hallmark Cards, explains: "We can utilise four exciting days to talk to our customers about new ideas and strategies going forward. In addition, Paperworld is very interesting for us in terms of attracting new key account customers and strong partners in the specialist retail trade."

The school supplies and writing/drawing instruments product ranges will be better positioned in 2017: in the future, both product segments will be found in Hall 4.0 and will be an ideal ordering platform for German and international buyers.

The retail trade, in particular, will get their money’s worth in Paperworld’s lifestyle area, if they are looking for new impulses for putting together their product ranges and designing their stores: both the Paperworld Trend Show in the foyer between Hall 5.1 and 6.1, which will provide insights into the colours, shapes and materials of the next season, and the special show, 'Mr. Books & Mrs. Paper', in Hall 5.1, which is not only conceived for book sellers, will show how exhibitors’ products can be put together in a fresh new way in order to boost sales vis-à-vis end consumers. The young and innovative companies in the BMWi (Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy) promotional area will provide the trade with new ordering possibilities. And if it’s about service, the 2017 gift wrapping show, 'Let’s Wrap', with Arona Khan, will have all kinds of tips and techniques at the ready for developing gift wrapping services in the retail trade.

International sourcing: the complete value-added chain in Frankfurt
Paperworld in Frankfurt am Main has not only been the hub for national and international trade in paper, office supplies and stationery products for years, but it’s also a place where companies can find manufacturers in the supply industry, processors, and brand name producers. In Hall 1, volume buyers, wholesalers and foreign trade operators, as well as import/export companies from all over the world, will find the right partners straightaway. With the move from Hall 10, the fair’s organisers are now concentrating Paperworld at the eastern end of the Frankfurt exhibition centre. "This is because want to optimise our trade visitor flow and give them the best possible service", says Michael Reichhold. "From March 2016 to the end of 2018, we’ll be building a new exhibition hall, Hall 12, right next to Hall 10, which means that we’re no longer able to guarantee this without compromise. Hall levels 1.1 and 1.2 will offer better conditions for our needs and our customers’ requirements."

In addition to a future-oriented complementary programme at Paperworld, the Creativeworld, Christmasworld and Floradecora fairs, which are taking place concurrently, offer products that enhance the core product range of the trade visitors in the best, and most profitable, way.
